Ollie and Kitty

Posted January 22nd, 2010 | Permalink

This is OllieMonkey and Kitty. They live with us and are the closest friends of my daughter. They are also the closest friends of each other. They are both boys.

Ollie and Kitty

Kitty is almost 10 years old. He’s very well loved and has been for years, and has even had to have doctor-mending a few times. He likes to tell us about his day every evening at bedtime. He’s very insightful. He’s a caring friend, generally very well behaved and polite. And though he does let it slip now and then that he sometimes has large parties in the house with all his friends while we are sleeping, he’s easy to trust.

He used to like to sleep most of the day, until Ollie arrived.

OllieMonkey (Ollie for short) is younger than Kitty. We don’t really know how old he is exactly. He won’t tell us. He’s only lived with us for a few weeks – came from Denver, most recently. Ollie likes to talk, and likes to play cards. He likes to cheat though, and like most monkeys, he’s a sore loser, so even though he’s always asking us to play, we don’t usually. He’s a good monkey though with a good heart. And he’s a good friend. He makes us laugh a lot.

Ollie has awakened something in Kitty and they now spend their days together being friends. At bedtime they tell us all about it.

Today, they asked if they could look out the window while we were gone at work and school

Ollie and Kitty in window

Ollie: We saw a lot of things out the window today.
Kitty: Yeah.
Ollie: Kitty saw a man walk by.
Kitty: Yeah. I did.
Ollie: I saw three people walk by. One had a dog.
Kitty: We saw 226 cars.
Ollie: Lots of cars. 7 semis!
Kitty: 64 blue cars.
Ollie: 31 black.
Kitty: 37 white and 14 green.
Ollie: One was a convertible. The top was closed though.
Kitty: Yeah. Too cold. I don’t blame them, really.
Ollie: I know it! They’d be crazy to have that top open!
Kitty: Yeah.
Kitty: I saw that man with the bike with the yellow box behind too.
Ollie: We really wondered what was in that box.
Kitty: I think it was paperwork.

Week 7 Photo Challenge – Answer

Posted January 20th, 2010 | Permalink

Ah, alas, no winner this week.

It’s this house, on Spring Street in Kennebunkport…

…in the yard at the side of the house. Little bushes, or trees, wrapped up cozy for the winter. They look like kids marching out to the playground, single file.

The next Photo Challenge will be a “What is it?” challenge, open to everyone, and I’ll post it on the 28th. In the meantime, lots of fun stuff to come!
